He definitely took time accepting the fact that he needs to go to school everyday. It took him over a month to get comfortable enough to start enjoying going to school. There were small things that he would enjoy, but mostly he hated the fact that I wasn't there in the class for that period. He goes for about 3.5 hours everyday. While he hasn't yet made any good friends, his teacher mentioned that he does socialize with a lot of the students. He really wants to go to school now, in his own words. While he still wants a confirmation from me almost everyday that I will come to pick him up after lunch, he will pick out his clothes for the next day the night before, a practice he started on his own. Other than buttoning up, he is able to wear his clothes on his own for the most part and occasionally he will eat his breakfast and snack on his own as well at home. Plus he seems to be getting back his interest in helping out in the house, specially with using the washing machine and dryer, helping out with food prep in the kitchen and vacuuming. He will keep singing half-learned songs from school the entire day at home. I can make out some of the words. One thing that he really enjoys reciting is the prayer his class says before lunch:
Happy heart, sunny and rainy weather; thank you for the food we eat and that we are together. Bon Appetit!
I am not sure this is the complete or the most accurate version, but that's the only way he says it. He likes it so much that he'll draw a smiley face and sun and rain at every opportunity in school.
