We have been trying to get Sameer to learn how to power on the stereo and then press the play button. He (like most kids of his age) fancies anything with buttons. The phone instrument, TV remote and the BlackBerry are among his favorite toys. So I was pretty confident that now he can be trained to turn on the stereo.
About a week ago, we were successful. When we say, "गाना सुनाओ" he immediately goes and plays the stereo. We learned a few things from this. His vocabulary is growing significantly and that he likes music. He understands गाना, stereo, play, etc. He is so happy everytime he plays the stereo. We will post a video of him playing the stereo in our June 2008 photo album.

Ruchi, read your comment on my blog. It is so true that now sameer is growing and there fore understanding a lot of things. It is so good to see that, in a way at least! Eveen though it is difficult.
Easier said than done, but just try to keep calm and take him in your arms (as far as it is possible in such situations) . One good thing which you must keep in mind is distracting his attention, when he crys. This is one of the best remedies for such situations. How you do it i can vary. Either by showing him something far away or asking him questions about somthing, something he likes or so. Or take him away.

It was such a pleasure spending a few weeks with Sameer. His dance with music on was really entertaining. I also learnt a few steps from him, and we had a good competition! God bless this young kid, who is poised to surprise all of us.
